Laser epilation

Our salon is using the most up to date laser epilation system “Light Sheer”. It is produced by the American company “Lumenis” and provides permanent removal of unwanted hair.This unique computer-guided technology offers a wide range of programmes. It allows us to develop a custom designed treatment for each of our clients. The difference between skin and hair pigment is as individual as fingerprints, therefore only the programme featured in this laser system can ensure effective epilation. The sapphire optics reduces thermal effect on skin, which makes the procedure painless and allows it to be performed on any part of the body (face, armpits, breasts, back, bikini, legs, arms).

Only the last generation of diode laser systems can remove hair from all skin types, including darkly tanned skin targeting effectively also ingrown hair.  For the first time a device of such effectiveness has been applied in Latvia.

Laser system “Light Sheer” can be applied to treat enlarged superficial blood vessels, remove pigmented lesions and tattoos.

The essence of the method

The essence of the method is the following – the computer detects a hair follicle under the skin based on the difference in hair and skin pigmentation. It targets the melanin (pigment) found within the root of the hair follicle and breaks it down.

The number of procedures required varies individually and depends on hair colour, growth intensity, skin type and targeted area. Repeated procedures are necessary because of the three phases of hair growth.

• Anagenous – hair follicle is located in the upper layer of skin (is visible). While in this phase it is possible to remove the hair follicle. Of all hair approximately a third are simultaneously in the anagenous stage.
• Catagenous – phase when the hair is formed.
• Telogenous – rest period. Transition time from one growth period into another is around 2 – 2 ½ months after which the procedure has to be repeated.

An average epilation course consists of 4-5 procedures with an interval of 2 – 2 ½ months between each session. During the interval the hair do not grow.

Preparation for the procedure

Preparation for the procedure – laser diode epilation procedure does not require any special preparations. Clients are advised not to perform waxing three weeks before the planned laser epilation. During this period it is advised to use other hair removal methods such as shaving or depilatory cream. It is also advised not to sunbathe during the week before the procedure. Clients are warned about the necessity to remove hair from the body area to be treated with depilatory cream or shaver no later than 4-6 hours before the beginning of the procedure.
